Soweto is expected to be a hive of activity when Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs lock horns at FNB Stadium on Saturday, 11 November.
The highly-anticipated Soweto Derby is a sold-out affair and will draw thousands of football lovers to the area as the two titans of South African football lock horns.
In trying to ensure a hassle-free experience for all supporters, the match organisers have provided relevant information that will help simplify navigation to and from the stadium using various transport options.
Navigation Software
Stadium Management South Africa has implemented navigation software that will help guide spectators to various routes and checkpoints. This can be accessed by clicking on the following link https://fnbs.routing.geoint.africa/
Rea Vaya Bus Service
The Rea Vaya bus service will be operational from various locations to FNB Stadium, running at five-minute intervals from 12:00 to kick-off time. The service will run until 19:00.
This is an effort to make travelling to the Soweto Derby quicker and more convenient.
The service will operate from Joburg CBD, Cresta, Auckland Park, Westbury, Bosmont, New Canada, Florida North, Parktown, Yeoville, Eldorado Park and some major residential areas in Soweto.
The Rea Vaya station at FNB Stadium is scheduled to open at 10:00 on Saturday.
Departure points are as follows;
● T3 buses will operate at Milpark, Auckland Park, Westbury, and Noordgesig along Perth and Empire Roads, and passengers will be transferred to T1 at Orlando Stadium.
● Inner City and Ellis Park
● Braamfontein Yeoville
● Parktown
● Soweto
● Dobsonville
● Eldorado Park
● Florida North, Newlands
● Leah Glen, Fleurhof, Amalgam, Bosmont, Riverlea

Important to note;
Smartcards are available at Rea Vaya stations, and will not be sold at the stadium’s ticket office. All those who opt for this particular service are urged to take note of drop-off and collection points.
T1 and C1 buses will run at 15-minute intervals before 12:00, with the former set to run every five minutes between 12:00 and kick-off time. T3 will operate at 15-minute intervals throughout the day.
Additional Transport Options
The match venue can also be accessed using public transport such as taxis, as well as e-hailing services.
Gates open at 11:30 and those who will be travelling to FNB Stadium using taxis are advised to take note of taxi stacking points when departing the venue.
Taxi operators are urged to stack vehicles 30 minutes before the end of the match on the Soweto Highway North and Southbound. JMPD will be on hand to manage pedestrian traffic.
Uber drivers are advised to follow security instructions when approaching the venue, and e-hailing vehicles looking to pick up passengers need to be stacked 30 minutes before the end of the match.
Vehicles heading to the match venue should use the Rand Show Offramp and navigate their way towards transport hub via Golden Highway Extension.
Parking Options
Toyota Zone Parking PS 12 is accessible using N17 off the N1 Western Bypass South. Motorists are urged to follow security instructions on the traffic circle on Stadium Road.
Reserved parking options such as Silver Reserved Parking Expo Centre 1-2 are also available. This can be accessed via N1 Western Bypass South as well as M1 Western. Meanwhile, Platinum Reserved Parking Gate D can be accessed using N17 off the N1 Western Bypass South.
The other option is Platinum Reserved Parking Gate D, which is accessible from N17 off the N1 Western Bypass South.
