Bucs MTN 8 Final Opponents Confirmed

Two of the oldest football clubs in the South African top flight will be battling it out for the ongoing campaign’s first available piece of silverware after Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu booked spots in the last two over the past weekend.

The final will take place at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, the site of the Buccaneers last triumph in this particular competition, where they will be looking to lift the coveted trophy for the second time in the last three seasons.

They have come within one game of adding to their trophy collection after an impressive performance in Polokwane, putting three unanswered goals against defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns in the second leg of the first semifinal, which finished in a 3-0 aggregate score after a goalless draw at Orlando Stadium.

Their opponents in the final were confirmed on Sunday afternoon when Usuthu held on for a goalless draw against Kaizer Chiefs in Durban, following on from a one-all draw in the first leg played at FNB Stadium.

The Durban-based outfit progressed through via the away-goal rule, setting up a date with Pirates, who are in search of their tenth title in Top Eight competition.

The two teams will be meeting for the second time in the space of a month, following a thrilling one-all draw in their recent league encounter in Soweto.

The MTN 8 final is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 5 November with the kick-off time set to be confirmed in due course.
