DDC Preview: TS Galaxy

Orlando Pirates Reserves are back at Rand Stadium for the next DStv Diski Challenge fixture against TS Galaxy on Saturday morning.

It’s a must-win game for the hosts, who remain among the contenders for the title with just nine games left to play in the current campaign.

Form Guide

They head into the fixture following a slip-up in their most recent outing in the form of a 2-1 loss to Cape Town Spurs, which saw them drop down from first to third place in the standings

This continued a trend of topsy-turvy results on the road for the Soweto Giants, whose five defeats this season have all been registered away from home.

They remain unbeaten at home, with no points dropped since they were held to a one-all stalemate by Sekhukhune United in October last year.

In their last five games, Pirates have claimed nine points through three consecutive wins, losing twice while netting 11 goals and conceding eight.

They now gear up for a TS Galaxy side that has found itself scraping the barrel in terms of consistency throughout the season, with just three points collected over the past five match days, where they have only found the net twice while shipping five goals.

Fresh off a one-all stalemate at home to AmaZulu, the young Rockets are currently 13th in the standings with the last of the six wins collected during the current season dating back to late January.

They will be aiming for a first away win in nearly six months as they look to reconnect with the form that placed them among the pace-setters during the early part of the campaign.

Head-to-Head

Pirates Reserves were triumphant in the reverse fixture in November last year, bagging a 2-0 win through second half goals from Mohau Nkota and Jabulani Mokone.

It was their fourth consecutive victory against their Galaxy counterparts, whose last three-point haul in this fixture was collected at Rand Stadium during the 2020/21 season.

In their last five encounters, the Bucs Reserves comfortably lead the goal-scoring stakes, having found the net eight times while only conceding three.
