Orlando Pirates will mark their return to the CAF Champions League with a clash against Djabal Club from the Comoros when the 2023/24 edition of the competition kicks off next month.
The Buccaneers qualified for Africa’s most prestigious club competition when they finished second in the DStv Premiership, and will be making their first appearance in the tournament in featuring in the 2019/20 campaign.
In a draw held in Cairo, Egypt on Tuesday, the Soweto Giants were drawn against the Iconi-based outfit in the first preliminary round, with the two sides set to square off for the second time in history.
Djabal are the reigning champions of the Comoros Premier League, having recently clinched their second league title.
They will be competing in the Champions League for the first time since qualifying for the competition in 2013, where they crossed paths with Pirates in the opening round, with the Buccaneers triumphing with a convincing 9-0 aggregate score.
The first preliminary round kicks off on the weekend of the 18th of August, with the second leg getting underway seven days later.
Venues and kick-off times will be confirmed at a later stage.
